You may remember from our first post that we had some exciting news to share, which is why we wanted to give our blog a name that could continue once we got back from Europe. I didn't want to announce anything until we had the keys in our hands, and we closed yesterday!
If you have had a conversation with me in the past couple years, all I probably talked about was a 1920's historical arts-and-craft bungalow that we fell in love with in downtown Hendersonville. This is not that house. And actually, that house wasn't even for sale. But you'd be amazed at how eager people are to sell when someone knocks on their door and says, "We love your house! If you ever think about selling, we'd love to buy it!" And that's exactly what we did!
By purchasing this humble 1971 ranch, we have not given up on our dream of owning that 1920's bungalow. But as we watched the next year come and go (with no prospects of moving into our bungalow) we decided that we couldn't wait around and put our lives on hold (especially since our land lady was trying to sell our condo). So this house seemed like the perfect project/investment opportunity for the meantime.
So for the next couple years, our goal will be to flip this diamond-in-the-rough! And the most exciting thing is-- You get a front row seat! So what have we done so far? Not a whole lot, considering we're not even officially moving in until Saturday. But last night I disinfected the cabinets, laid down cabinet liners, and unpacked a few boxes while Eric changed the locks.
For my next post, I'll be taking you on a virtual tour and giving you the room-by-room-run-down on our to-do list. We're not exactly feeling warm and fuzzy about our humble home just yet, but we have some seriously exciting plans for this place to make it awesome. And you know what they say...
Home is where your stockpile is!
Sal
